Insurance and Spatial Information, a Perfect Match

Understanding the world through a spreadsheet can be very difficult. Sure, you can see the address, the business line, or the Total Insured Value for one of the policies. But, it is very difficult to see how that one policy relates to the next policy, or if there is a relationship. GeoDecisions has been helping our insurance partners make sense of the spatial information found in a spreadsheet for many years. Focusing on visualization of our partners’ portfolios, we use the latest Esri® technologies to display, aggregate, symbolize, and compare policies, claims, and other attributes. This strategy provides our partners with a more accurate and encompassing view of their portfolio(s).

Justin: Prior to joining GeoDecisions’ team in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, my work experience has involved working with small agencies to create marketing websites with short shelf lives. While I really enjoyed web development, I wanted to be a part of something bigger, and create quality products I could be proud of. At the same time, I didn’t want to lose the tight-knit bond that smaller teams share, and avoid limiting myself to being a drone by following orders from a twisted hierarchy of corporate overlords.

SEPTA Uses Esri Platform to Plan for Papal Visit to Philadelphia

In September 2015, Pope Francis visited Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as part of the World Meeting of Families. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), operating the Philadelphia region’s public transit network, had to implement a plan to accommodate the large numbers of attendees expected for this historic occasion. Gannett Fleming, Inc. was selected to assist SEPTA with preparing for this event’s significant transportation logistics requirements; while GeoDecisions, the geospatial information technology (IT) division of Gannett Fleming, played a major role in leveraging Esri’s ArcGIS Online platform to support this effort.
