GeoDecisions team members across the country showed up in force on Nov. 14 to celebrate GIS Day, demonstrate the firm’s geospatial services, and inspire students to pursue careers in geographic information systems technology.

  • Amanda Guers presented during Central PA GIS Day’s StoryMap and Open Data Show & Tell session about using Esri’s ArcGIS to map election polling place solutions for Hanover County, Virginia

  • Jonathan Greiner and Mark Bowen, a Lehigh County Authority (LCA) client, also presented at Central PA GIS Day. The pair demonstrated how LCA is using GeoDecisions’ Notify to provide management and field staff with an integrated common operating platform that enables time-sensitive communication between staff

  • Konstantin Kireenkov and Kelly Fisher provided Penn State GIS Day attendees with insights into how the Project Safe Neighborhoods Mapping and Analysis Program (PSNMAP) analyzes crimes using a web-based GIS application. The tool is helping local law enforcement to combat the opioid epidemic and drug-related crime in the eastern district of Pennsylvania

  • Brett Jones was one of four panelists who provided Virginia Commonwealth University students with insights into careers in GIS and technology, encouraging students that many paths can lead them into the industry and to find their niche

  • Nearly 50 clients and partners attended a GIS Day Open House hosted by the Richmond team. Debbie Houser presented a case study about how the firm tailored GeoDecisions Track for Bristow Helicopters, Brian Smith walked guests through the Uber Skyport design, and Lyndsay Duncan and Roy Gilb delivered a lightning talk about Cityworks Asset Management. No GIS Day event is complete without cake – Manoj Kancharla’s 12-year-old daughter won the Open House’s cake bake-off with a three-tiered earth-inspired cake

  • Caitlyn Meyer represented the firm and URISA’s Vanguard Cabinet of Young Professionals as a co-presenter at the Piedmont Triad GIS Day hosted by MapForsyth in Kernersville, North Carolina. In collaboration with another cabinet member, she instructed participants on how to become leaders and influencers within their GIS organizations no matter their years of experience or tenure

  • Melanie Durko sweetened GIS Day for the Raleigh office with homemade earth cookies.

Employees from across GeoDecision’s offices also came together to celebrate how they’re Powering Innovation with Location in a new video released on GIS Day.

GIS Day provides an international forum for users of GIS technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a difference in our society. The first formal GIS Day took place in 1999.
