CHALLENGE

With the spread of COVID-19, access to accurate, health-related data had never been so critical to the average American–it was, in many cases, a matter of life and death. Like local governments everywhere, Stafford County, Virginia, wanted to get authoritative, localized information about COVID-19 out to the community as quickly as possible.

SOLUTION

GeoDecisions moved Stafford County, Virginia to the Esri platforms, leveraging both Enterprise and ArcGIS Online (AGOL). With Esri platforms already in place, GeoDecisions was able to efficiently develop and modify the resources Stafford County needed to create an accessible, up-to-date COVID-19 dashboard.

With ArcGIS Online backed by ArcGIS Enterprise we are able to configure a majority of the solutions and add additional capabilities via Python and other technologies, enabling our team to be more efficient and focus on the business aspect of the solution. The team could work through the changes in AGOL to add new data or new analysis and feed it to the dashboard daily as community needs evolved.

GeoDecisions also deployed an externally facing Coronavirus Response Hub built on Esri’s ArcGIS Hub. Within its Hub, Stafford County pulls together various dashboards and resources into a single site. The Hub enabled them to share real-time, relevant information on the virus, its spread, and community services that would help county residents handle a growing public health crisis.
